BALLINDERRY CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS
Having been out of action
through the summer months, the senior camogs took to the pitch on
Wednesday night past to face Slaughtneil in the closing stages of
the league campaign. The Shamrocks got off to a blistering start
with scores from Paula Bell and Kerri Graham to leave the Shamrocks
ahead 1-3 to 0-0 ten minutes into the game. Slaughtneil however
were not to be deterred and put strong pressure on the Ballinderry
defence, managing to score 1-2 by half-time.
In the second half, the Shamrocks’ camogs came into their own with
superb performances by Aileen McCusker in centre half-back putting
1-2 on the score-board. Donna McCusker fought hard in the middle of
the park to put immense pressure on the Slaughtneil defence.
Slaughtneil managed a consolation goal in the last two minutes,
however it was a very good overall performance from the Ballinderry
girls, finishing on a score-line of 3-7 2-3. The seniors now meet
Swatragh on Thursday night.
The U-18’s girls enjoyed a tremendous victory over Bellaghy last
week, winning on a comfortable score-line of 2-13 to 1-01. Kerri
Graham again starred, managing to put over 4 excellent points from
play. She was ably assisted by all five of her forward line players
who all put scores on the board. Again a fantastic team
performance, back-boned by five of our senior players. The girls
now look forward to their Championship match on the 24th
September against Slaughtneil.
Well done to our U-12 team and their coaches who beat a strong Lavey
team in Shamrock Park by a score-line of 1-01 to 0-01.
