By the 7^th minute Enda Muldoon, Conleith Gilligan, Ronan Devlin and Brendan Conway had posted points for Ballinderry, Banagher’s only scores of the first half following from Mark Lynch frees in the 10^th and 12^th minutes.

From that to the break it was one way traffic as Gilligan with 0-04, Colin Devlin with 0-03 and Michael McIver ensured a comfortable 0-12 to 0-02 interval lead against an understrength and lack-lustre Banagher.

Gilligan increased the lead from a free on the restart but Kevin O’Neill fired home a 6^th minute goal to lift a more focussed Banagher. However the champions continued to score freely and midway through the half Enda Muldoon set up Martin Harney for a fisted goal and a 1-15 to 1-05 lead.

With Conleith Gilligan 0-08 and Colin Devlin 0-06 scoring at will Ballinderry were 1-19 to 1-07 ahead when Rory McColgan scored a second Banagher goal in the 58^th minute, substitute James Bateson getting the final point in added time.
